Music & Fine Arts

Mission: To glorify God, lead others in worship, and mature disciples who use their gifts and skills in service to God. Our highest calling as believers is first, to worship God and our Lord Jesus in spirit and truth. Through a dynamic and balanced ministry of teaching and training, discipleship, outreach, and fellowship, we want to use our musical and artistic talents and love of the arts as a vehicle for bringing people into God’s kingdom. We embrace many styles of music in our worship including our tremendous heritage of great hymns as well as the contemporary music of today.

The Music and Fine Arts Ministry offers many opportunities to serve and get involved including the Chancel Choir, Praise Band, the newly formed Mt. Horeb Orchestra, Men’s & Women’s Ensembles, vocal and instrumental soloists, Mid-High PRIORITY and Sr. High Praise Band (grades 6-12), Handbell choir, and Kid’s Music graded program (preschool-5th grade). Fine arts opportunities include: Michelangelo Ministry (visual arts), drama and dance, production crews for major musicals (i.e. set construction, costumes, backstage), as well as sound, lighting and media tech teams. See the table below for details and rehearsal schedules.

Men’s and Women’s Ensembles and various vocal and instrumental groups from within the music ministry meet and rehearse at various times throughout the year for specific performance and ministry opportunities. If you are interested in participating in an ensemble or as a soloist, contact Jack Warren at the music office to set up an audition.

Concerts at Mt. Horeb, in its sixth season, is the result of a vision to bring the ministry, music, and inspiration of some of America’s top Christian artists to Lexington and the Midlands. Supported by the Friends of Music, this ministry has become a major outreach into the community drawing the audience from throughout South Carolina and beyond.
