CONFIRMATION 2021

Confirmation 2021 is finally here and we couldn’t be more excited. We decided to push it back this year due to Covid restrictions and we are excited to finally be able to offer this class for our 8th graders.

Back in 2017 we developed a Confirmation theme to carry our class each year. We landed on the word GROW. This theme and subsequent curriculum centers around the outcome we hope to see in the lives of our students: spiritual growth.

In 1 Corinthians 3:7 Paul reminds us, the believers that some people plant (seeds of the Gospel), others water (giving nutrition to what we are taught), “but only God makes things GROW.

Below you will find information about the confirmation process as a whole, the retreat, important policies, as well as some details regarding our policies, and our Confirmation Celebration.

We are praying for great things for this year and I hope your child will join us on this journey.

Some of these will be outside (weather permitting) and in indoor classrooms. Masks and safety policies will be followed in these instances.

RETREAT INFO

Every year students and mentors say the Confirmation Retreat is a vital part of their Confirmation experience. Due to Covid restrictions and guidelines we are not able to permit an overnight retreat, so we have designed a 2 day IN HOUSE RETREAT. Student will participate in a Friday evening session and activity, and then return home for the night. The following morning we will meet for the 1st morning session, break for lunch and then have one more session after lunch and wrap things up for the day.
We understand this won’t be the same as going away for the whole weekend. We will, however, work our hardest to make this a memorable experience.

CONFIRMATION CEREMONY

Saturday, June 5th – The Confirmation Celebration will be held in the Contemporary Auditorium. We will celebrate the students’ completion of Confirmation by praying over each student, awarding them their certificates and giving them a brief charge and gift to remember their journey.
Due to Covid Restrictions and Guidelines we will have 2 Ceremonies, back to back with a small break in between them. This allows for families to not have limited invitations for family and friends. We will keep small groups together and try to split evenly between the whole group and between boys and girls.
We will also use this time to thank our mentors.

(parents will receive more information on times and details as we approach this event)

CONFIRMATION SUNDAY

Sunday, June 6th – Confirmation Sunday will take place during our Contemporary Services in the Auditorium. Students will sit together in the two services and have the opportunity to be recognized, join in church membership, and be baptized if they have never been baptized before.
The church will also enjoy a recap video which will include clips from the Confirmation Celebration.
