Student Summer Mission Trips ’20
Missions is a huge part of what we do as a student ministry. And while we focus on local missions work through our small groups during the year, the summer is our time for mission trips that take us outside of Lexington, SC.
This summer we will be sending out 5 teams
- Next Step Alaska –
Graduated Seniors and Young Adults
June 27th – July 4th | $1,750
The Young Adults from our church will be returning to Fairbanks, Alaska to help in the work of Next Step ministries and the community there. For more information about the work taking place there, please visit Next Step’s info page about Alaska.
- Next Step West Virginia –
Rising 7th – 8th grade
July 5th – 11th | $550
Our Middle School Students will be returning for the 4th time now to Clendenin, West Virginia. Here they will be helping Next Step ministries with community work and rebuilding of a small town affected by flood damage back in 2016. - Newberry Salkehatchie –
14yrs old and up
July 18th – 25th | $250
Join other United Methodist Churches as we serve our greater South Carolina area in Newberry. Work on projects during the day, and return in the evening for time with friends and evening sessions. For more information and registration, please visit Salkehatchie’s website.
- Costa Rica –
Rising 11th -12th grade
July 24th – 31st | $1700
Upperclassmen will be returning to the beach town of Jaco, Costa Rica. Here we will work along side Mt. Horeb UMC missionaries Daniel and Sarah Barrett. These faithful missionaries have been serving this small town through work projects, homeless outreach, children’s ministry and the daily activities of their church, Horizon Church.
- Next Step Tennessee –
Rising 9th – 10th grade
August 2nd – 8th | $550
This is a new trip we are adding this year for our Freshmen and Sophomores. We will be heading to Knoxville, Tennessee with Next Step Ministries to help with community development there. For more information about the Tennessee trip, please visit Next Step’s info page about Knoxville.
HOW TO RESERVE YOUR SPOT
- Complete an application.
- Turn in your non-refundable deposit.
- Obtain a passport if traveling outside the US and submit a copy to Students Ministry.
- Have your doctor complete a Physician’s Release Form and return to Student Ministry.
- All mission fees must be pain to the Missions Department two weeks prior to departure in order to go on the trip.
- Grade listed refers to the grade you will be entering in the fall of 2020
